Second Half 19th Century
the chest with painted inscription 'VENTIS SECUNDIS/ VICTORIA REGINA BRITANNIA' to the front and further inscribed 'Richard Saye/ Midshipman/ H.M.S. Farley/ Royal Navy / Plymouth/ 1886-9' to each side.
Height 23 1/4 x width 36 x depth 19 1/4 inches.

Condition
In overall decent, stable condition. Old scuffs, marks and scratches throughout consistent with age and use. Scattered flaking to paint, particularly along edges. The metal strap-work on front and sides of case painted over with gold paint. Other painted decoration likely refreshed. Scattered white paint flecks on back and side of case. The top with an age crack running horizontally through lower third of top. Additional images available upon request.
